Disney Cruise Line Opens Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point

Disney Cruise Line has officially opened its newest tropical destination—Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. The celebration included Bahamian officials and local community members. This vibrant location on Eleuthera is the result of years of collaboration between Disney and Bahamian artists, historians, and cultural experts.

Disney Lookout Cay immerses guests in the spirit of The Bahamas. Colorful architecture, authentic experiences, and performances by Bahamian talent showcase the local culture. From peaceful nature trails to scenic beaches, the destination combines island beauty with Disney magic.

Following the inaugural sailing on June 8, Disney Dream, Disney Magic, and Disney Fantasy will stop at Disney Lookout Cay.

“The making of our second island destination in The Bahamas has been an incredible collaboration,” said Sharon Siskie, SVP and GM of Disney Cruise Line. “We’re proud of the relationships we’ve built in Eleuthera and the cultural story we’re telling together.”

At the opening event, local Junkanoo groups performed, including top teams from Tarpum Bay Primary and Preston H. Albury High School. These energetic performances brought the island’s cultural pride to life.

Prime Minister Hon. Philip Davis praised the destination. “From its thoughtful design to entertainment featuring Junkanoos, people who visit will experience The Bahamas and our special culture in a new way.”

Deputy Prime Minister I. Chester Cooper added, “Disney continues to be a gold standard community partner in its support of conservation, culture, economic, and community growth.”

Culture Comes to Life at Disney Lookout Cay

The destination features contributions from renowned Bahamian creatives. Sculptor Antonius Roberts created a large installation from a fallen tree on site. Kevin Cooper’s colorful paintings decorate the Goombay Cultural Center, and Imogen Walkine’s ceramics add flair to bars across the island. Additional featured artists include Philip and Michelle Kemp, Andret John, Dorman Stubbs, Kishan Munroe, and Edrin Symonette.

Guests can shop for original art, locally made ceramics, and a Bahamian-inspired clothing line designed by Theodore Elyett at merchandise locations like Disney T’ings and Treasures of Eleuthera. Elyett also designed new attire for Mickey, Minnie, and friends that reflects Bahamian flair.

Cultural activities are a core part of the experience. “Rush! A Junkanoo Celebration” introduces families to a traditional Bahamian street parade. Meanwhile, “Disney Fun in the Sun Beach Bash” blends Disney characters with beachside games and local music.

Investing in the Future

Disney Lookout Cay created hundreds of construction jobs and launched with nearly 200 permanent roles for Bahamians—more than tripling Disney’s original commitment. The island is led entirely by a Bahamian leadership team.

To further support the local community, Disney is investing $1 million into youth programs, playground upgrades, and a new sports facility. Funds from the Disney Conservation Fund will also support conservation education in Central and South Eleuthera.

“We want to inspire young people in Eleuthera to dream big,” said Siskie. “This investment is about creating a lasting impact and supporting the next generation of Bahamian leaders.”

Disney Cruise Line has maintained a strong presence in The Bahamas for over 25 years. With all five ships registered in the country and most sailings including a stop in the islands, the company contributes more than $70 million annually to The Bahamas’ GDP.
