Inside the Disney Car Show at D23 2024

Let’s take a ride through one of the most unforgettable experiences from D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event—A Great Big Beautiful Car Show. This massive exhibition, curated by the Walt Disney Archives, covered 24,000 square feet and featured over 30 iconic Disney vehicles.

Disney History on Wheels

Guests enjoyed an incredible collection of cars from Disney films and parks. Cruella’s 1974 Panther De Ville from Cruella (2021) and Sharpay’s pink convertible from High School Musical 3 were standouts. Disneyland history buffs were thrilled to see the classic tram car and tractor that once transported guests from 1968 to 1997.

Kingswell Service Station showcased vintage Americana with highlights like the Flubber-powered Model T from The Absent-Minded Professor. The Electric Mayhem van from Muppets Mayhem (2023) drew cheers from Muppet fans. Other popular vehicles included Herbie the Love Bug, the DHARMA van from Lost, and the 1967 Ferrari from Ford v Ferrari.

From Disneyland to the World’s Fair

Another showstopper was the original Ford Mustang from the 1964–65 New York World’s Fair. This Magic Skyway vehicle, placed on a rotating platform, paid tribute to Walt Disney’s groundbreaking work for the fair.

The display also celebrated Disneyland’s early days. Guests marveled at Mickey’s Bantam Roadster and a Main Street U.S.A. Runabout once driven by Walt Disney himself.

Into the Worlds Beyond

The finale offered a trip into Disney’s cinematic future. The “Worlds Beyond” section included the Lexus Roadster from Minority Report.  Along with a TRON Lightcycle, and the massive Weyland Transport Rover from Prometheus. Each piece brought another layer of immersion.
