From our Friends at D23
Last Halloween, we all enjoyed the stop-motion shenanigans of Mickey Mouse and his pals in Mickey and Friends Trick or Treats. (Catch up or enjoy your first viewing now on Disney+!) For this haunted season, the creative team behind that madcap special is back with more ghoulish giggles in Mickey’s Spooky Stories.
This all-new collection of five stop-motion shorts features Mickey and the gang sharing Halloween stories around the campfire. These snappy, silly, slightly scary shorts are another collaboration between Disney and Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, and are directed by David H. Brooks (Mickey and Friends Trick or Treats, 2022’s Mickey Saves Christmas).
When you watch the full shorts on Disney Jr. or Disney+, be sure to pay close attention! The stories are full of Easter eggs. We won’t tell you which episodes to find them in—that would spoil the fun—but we’ll give you some clues about what to look for. The trick is to find them all!
Among the treats are:
- A one-eyed carved pumpkin that resembles Mike Wazowski from Monsters, Inc. (2001).
- A hidden Mickey among the candy drawings in a spell book.
- Spooky “faces” in the trees, similar to those in the haunted forest in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs(1937).
- Another hidden Mickey on Pete’s scooter handles.
And if you’re an I Love Lucy fan, look for an homage to the famous mirror scene between Lucille Ball and Harpo Marks from that great 1950s sitcom. Your grandparents can help with that one!
