Exclusive Clip & Easter Eggs: Mickey’s Spooky Stories

Halloween is back with even more ghoulish giggles, and Mickey’s Spooky Stories is ready to deliver! Following last year’s Mickey and Friends Trick or Treats, this new collection of five stop-motion shorts reunites Mickey and the gang around a campfire for some spooky storytelling fun.

Directed by David H. Brooks (Mickey and Friends Trick or Treats, Mickey Saves Christmas), these snappy, silly shorts are another exciting collaboration between Disney and Stoopid Buddy Stoodios. You can watch them on Disney Jr. or stream them on Disney+.

When you watch the full shorts on Disney Jr. or Disney+, be sure to pay close attention! The stories are full of Easter eggs. We won’t tell you which episodes to find them in—that would spoil the fun—but we’ll give you some clues about what to look for. The trick is to find them all!

Among the treats are:

  • A one-eyed carved pumpkin that resembles Mike Wazowski from Monsters, Inc. (2001).

In this scene from Mickey’s Spooky Stories, a close-up view of an open spell book shows the words Hocus Pocus at the top of a page. At the bottom of the page are the words Treats to Eat. In between are cartoon-like drawings of treats, a mummy, a trick-or-treat sack, and more. One of the little treat icons is shaped like Mickey’s head.

  • A hidden Mickey among the candy drawings in a spell book.
  • Spooky “faces” in the trees, similar to those in the haunted forest in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs(1937).

In this scene from Mickey’s Spooky Stories, the stop-motion puppet for Pete stands on a scooter in a pumpkin patch, just in front of a scary-looking tree. In the center of the handlebars for the scooter is a tiny metallic rendition of Mickey Mouse’s head and ears—a hidden Mickey.

  • Another hidden Mickey on Pete’s scooter handles.

In this scene from Mickey’s Spooky Stories, Mickey Mouse stands in his blue monster Halloween costume in what appears to be the library of a mansion. He is on the left of the image, and in the center is the frame of a full-length mirror, facing Mickey. Mickey has his body turned away from the mirror frame, and in the same position on the other side of the mirror frame is a green monster. The two characters are mirror images of one another.

And if you’re an I Love Lucy fan, look for an homage to the famous mirror scene between Lucille Ball and Harpo Marks from that great 1950s sitcom. Your grandparents can help with that one!

A promotional poster for Mickey’s Spooky Stories has the title of the show on the left, with the debut dates listed below: Disney Junior on October first and the next day on Disney Plus. On the right-hand side of the poster is an image of Mickey Mouse and his friends, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, and Goofy—all in their Halloween costumes—in a pumpkin patch. A witch on a broomstick flies overhead in the distance, along with a lot of bats, and there’s a haunted house on a hill far in the back of the image.
