The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade® is a beloved tradition celebrating its 98th rendition on Thursday, November 28th. With millions of viewers tuning in across the country and spectators lining the streets of New York City each year to marvel at larger-than-life balloons, floats, and entertainment—the Parade is considered the official kickoff to the holiday season. And The Walt Disney Company has been a natural partner in creating magic and delight for paradegoers for decades. Disney’s participation all started with a mouse: a Mickey Mouse balloon debuted in 1934, along with Pluto, the Big Bad Wolf, and Three Little Pigs balloons.
Now, fashion muse Minnie Mouse is ready to dazzle and soar above New York City with her iconic polka dot bow and signature yellow heels while striking an adorable pose in the Parade.
This is no small-time debut for everyone’s favorite sweetheart. Measuring 60 feet tall and 60 feet long, she’s as high as a 5-story building and as long as eight bicycles, and, at 34 feet wide, she’s as wide as five taxi cabs! What’s more, Minnie’s birthday is the week before Thanksgiving, on November 18, adding to the fun of the occasion.
