Stars, filmmakers, and special guests voyaged to Ko Olina, Hawai‘i, for the spectacular world premiere of Disney’s Moana 2. The lush and vibrant setting of Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, served as the perfect backdrop for this momentous occasion, offering a celebration rooted in the rich culture and traditions of the Pacific Islands.
The festivities kicked off with a dazzling performance by Hualālai Chung, the voice of Moni in Moana 2 and an Aulani performer. Chung captivated the audience with a breathtaking Fire & Knife demonstration, a thrilling showcase that guests of Aulani can experience themselves at the resort’s KA WA‘A – A Lū‘au.
The world premiere was held at the picturesque Lanikūhonua Cultural Institute, just moments from Aulani. This stunning venue offered a heartfelt tribute to Polynesian culture, with mesmerizing performances by Tiana Nonosina Liufau, Kayla Faʻamaligi, and other Polynesian creatives setting the tone for the evening. These performances celebrated the spirit of the film while honoring the cultural heritage that inspired it.
The premiere of Moana 2 wasn’t just a Hollywood event—it was a celebration of storytelling deeply intertwined with the Hawaiian and Polynesian culture that Moana embodies. Aulani, known for immersing guests in the magic and traditions of Hawai‘i, provided the perfect location to honor these themes.

Several stars from the film were in attendance, including Auliʻi Cravalho (voice of Moana), Dwayne Johnson (voice of Maui), Hualālai Chung (voice of Moni), Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda (voice of Simea) and Gerald Faitala Ramsey (voice of Tautai Vasa), along with filmmakers and songwriters, and of course Mickey and Minnie!
Five very special Make-A-Wish kids and their families were invited to be Dwayne Johnson’s personal guests at the premiere, Aulani had the honor of hosting them during their stay.
