BBC Studios and The Walt Disney Company have announced Bluey The Movie, the first feature film for the beloved animated series. The film will debut in theaters worldwide in 2027 under the Disney banner, followed by streaming on Disney+.
Written and directed by Bluey creator Joe Brumm, the film continues the adventures of Bluey, the playful and imaginative blue heeler pup, along with her Mum, Dad, and sister Bingo. Fans can expect the same heartfelt humor and charm that have made the series a global sensation.
Disney Entertainment co-chairmen Alan Bergman and Dana Walden praised the collaboration with BBC Studios, emphasizing Bluey’s ability to unite families through heartfelt storytelling. BBC Studios CEO Tom Fussell called the film a natural next step, following the series’ extraordinary global success.
The movie will feature vocal performances from Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack as Chilli and Bandit Heeler, with music composed by Joff Bush. Production is led by Amber Naismith, with support from the Australian government and Screen Queensland.
Bluey remains 2024’s most-watched streaming series globally, with over 50.5 billion minutes viewed in the U.S. alone. The series has received numerous accolades, including a 2024 Peabody Award.
Bluey The Movie will hit theaters in 2027 before streaming on Disney+ and airing on ABC iView and ABC Kids in Australia.
