The moment began with Todd Howard, Bethesda’s director, and Troy Baker presenting the award for Best Performance. Baker, fresh off his debut as Indiana Jones in The Great Circle, received praise from Howard, who quipped about Baker’s history of incredible roles in gaming (The Last of Us, Bioshock Infinite) but noted his lack of a Best Performance award. Howard teased, “You make a great case for best Indy performance,” before adding, “There was another guy though… I wonder what he thinks?”
To the iconic sounds of the “Raiders March,” Harrison Ford emerged from backstage to a standing ovation. The original Indiana Jones himself took the mic and praised Baker’s work in The Great Circle, saying, “I think this guy did a great job. If I had known he was so good, I would’ve done it myself.”
