Searchlight Pictures Dominates with 10 Nominations
Leading the Disney Academy Award nominations 2025, Searchlight Pictures earned an impressive 10 nods. The biographical drama A Complete Unknown, which tells the story of Bob Dylan’s life starring Timothée Chalamet, secured 8 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director (James Mangold), Best Actor (Chalamet), and supporting nominations for Edward Norton and Monica Barbaro. The film was also recognized for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Costume Design, and Best Sound, cementing its status as an awards-season favorite.
Adding to the success, A Real Pain earned 2 nominations, including Best Supporting Actor for Kieran Culkin and Best Original Screenplay for Jesse Eisenberg. With these honors, Searchlight Pictures now boasts 23 Best Picture nominations and 205 total Academy Award nominations, continuing its tradition of producing exceptional, award-winning films.
Pixar, 20th Century Studios, and National Geographic Honored
Pixar Animation Studios’ Inside Out 2, the highest-grossing film of 2024, earned a nomination for Best Animated Feature Film, marking another milestone for the beloved animation studio.
20th Century Studios secured 2 nominations for Best Visual Effects, recognizing the stunning work in Alien: Romulus and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
Meanwhile, National Geographic Documentary Films received its fifth nomination in seven years in the Best Documentary Feature Film category for Sugarcane, a powerful and thought-provoking film now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.

Disney Branded Television earned a nomination for Best Original Song with “Never Too Late” by Elton John, Brandi Carlile, Andrew Watt, and Bernie Taupin, featured in the special Elton John: Never Too Late, now available on Disney+.
