Big changes are coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios as Disney officially announced the permanent closures of three beloved attractions. Muppet*Vision 3D, PizzaRizzo, and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano will close to make way for an exciting new Monsters, Inc.-themed land. Here’s everything you need to know, including the Muppet Vision 3D closing date.
Muppet*Vision 3D: The Final Curtain Call
The last day to experience the zany antics of MuppetVision 3D* is June 7, 2025. On June 8, the doors will close forever to make room for the upcoming Monsters, Inc.-themed land.

Since opening in 1991, this cherished attraction has delighted guests with its comedic 3D effects and unforgettable characters. Set in a perfect replica of the Muppet Theater from The Muppet Show, audiences have joined Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the gang for a chaotic tour of their lab, complete with Dr. Bunsen Honeydew’s and Beaker’s wacky inventions.
This iconic attraction was a collaborative effort between Jim Henson Productions and Walt Disney Imagineering. It holds a special place in Disney history as the final project directed by Jim Henson and the last to feature his voice as Kermit the Frog.
PizzaRizzo: One Last Slice
PizzaRizzo will also bid farewell on June 7, 2025, closing permanently on June 8. Known for its quirky Muppet-inspired decor and fun atmosphere, this quick-service spot has been a favorite stop for families looking to grab a slice while exploring Grand Avenue.

Arrivederci, Mama Melrose
Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano will serve its last meals on May 10, 2025, officially closing on May 11. This cozy Italian eatery has been a fan favorite, thanks to its bold flavors and warm ambiance, complete with checked curtains, string lights, and eclectic memorabilia.

The charming backstory of Mama Melrose made it even more special: A young Sicilian girl moved to Hollywood with dreams of stardom, only to find her true passion in the kitchen. Her restaurant became a beloved spot “where Italy meets California in the heart of the Backlot.”
Preparing for the Future
Muppet Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, home to Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzaRizzo, will permanently close on June 8, 2025, with the final day of operation being June 7, 2025. This marks the end of an iconic area that has entertained guests for decades. The closure is part of the park’s transformation to make way for a new Monsters, Inc.-themed land, bringing a fresh Pixar experience to the park. While the Muppet Courtyard will be missed, the area’s legacy as a beloved destination for fans of the Muppets remains significant.

The image above showcases Muppet*Vision Courtyard as it exists today, with its vibrant charm and nostalgic design. Interestingly, the courtyard layout closely aligns with Disney’s new concept art for the upcoming Monsters, Inc.-themed land, shown below. The outlining buildings, such as those housing PizzaRizzo and other features, will be repurposed to fit the new Monstropolis theme, blending familiar structures with fresh storytelling elements. However, Studio 1, a central part of the courtyard, will be removed entirely opening up the area and pathway to the new Monsters Coaster we first saw at D23 the Ultimate Disney Fan Event.
