The EPCOT International Festival of the Arts celebrates visual, performing, and culinary arts. This year, it also highlights costume design with the Voices of Liberty’s new costumes. These outfits debuted on the first day of the festival and will be worn year-round, except during the holiday season when Victorian caroler attire takes center stage.
A Blend of Tradition and Functionality
The new costumes draw inspiration from vintage Americana. According to the Disney Parks Blog, Josh, a Costume Designer with Disney Live Entertainment, used the color palette of an aged American flag to create unique yet cohesive designs. This reflects how individual voices unite in harmony.
Sustainability was a priority in creating these costumes. Aubry, the project’s customer, emphasized using fabrics made from over 50% recycled content. These materials were custom-dyed to achieve the designer’s vision while ensuring crisp and polished tailoring.
Designing for Voices of Liberty Performers
The new Voices of Liberty costumes are tailored to the performers’ needs. During fittings, the Creative Costuming team worked closely with the cast to ensure mobility and comfort. This was especially important for vocal captains, whose conducting requires significant arm movement.

Behind the Costuming Process
Collaboration was key in creating the Voices of Liberty’s new costumes. As a thank-you to the Creative Costuming team, the Voices of Liberty performed at the costume shop wearing their new outfits. This gesture recognized the contributions of stitchers, drapers, cutters, and other team members who brought the designs to life.
