Exciting news for Pixar fans! Disney and Pixar have officially announced Coco 2, the highly anticipated follow-up to the Academy Award®-winning Coco. The announcement was made by CEO Bob Iger during The Walt Disney Company’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders, confirming that the film is now in early development and set for release in 2029.
“While the film is just in the initial stages, we know it will be full of humor, heart, and adventure,” said Iger. “And we can’t wait to share more soon.”
A New Chapter in Miguel’s Story
While plot details remain undisclosed, Coco 2 is expected to deliver another visually stunning and emotionally rich story. The film reunites the original creative team, including:
- Director: Lee Unkrich (Coco, Toy Story 3)
- Co-Director: Adrian Molina (Coco)
- Producer: Oscar®-winner Mark Nielsen (Toy Story 4, Inside Out 2)
The Legacy of Coco
The first Coco followed Miguel, a 12-year-old aspiring musician who ventured into the Land of the Dead to uncover the truth about his family’s history.
