The Latest ‘Lilo & Stitch’ Trailer Breaks Records – A New Look at Disney’s Live-Action Remake

Disney fans are buzzing with excitement as the latest trailer for Lilo & Stitch has officially dropped.  The trailer set a major record in the process. In just 24 hours, the trailer racked up 158 million views, making it the second most-viewed live-action trailer in Disney history—trailing only The Lion King (2019). With the film’s theatrical release set for May 23, 2025, anticipation is reaching new heights.

A Record-Breaking Trailer Release

The moment the trailer launched, it became a viral sensation. It quickly hit No. 1 on YouTube’s trending list, dominated Twitter/X, and even topped China’s Douyin platform. The momentum follows a string of successful reveals, including the first look at Stitch’s live-action design at last year’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event and a Super Bowl teaser featuring Stitch “crashing” the field, which amassed 173.1 million views in one day.

The Story We Love, Reimagined for a New Generation

This live-action adaptation brings the heartwarming and hilarious story of Lilo & Stitch to a new audience. The film follows Lilo Pelekai, a lonely Hawaiian girl who finds an unexpected friend in Stitch, a mischievous alien fugitive designed for destruction. Through their adventures, Lilo & Stitch learn the true meaning of ‘ohana—family, and no one gets left behind or forgotten

A Star-Studded Cast & Creative Team

The cast includes: Maia Kealoha as Lilo, Sydney Elizabeth Agudong as Nani, Chris Sanders returning to voice Stitch, Courtney B. Vance as Cobra Bubbles, Billy Magnussen as Pleakley, Zach Galifianakis as Jumba, Hannah Waddingham as the Grand Councilwoman and Tia Carrere (the original voice of Nani) in a new role

The film is produced by Jonathan Eirich and Dan Lin.  Tom Peitzman, Ryan Halprin, Louie Provost, and Thomas Schumacher are as executive producers.
