Rachel Zegler Brings Snow White to Life in Disney’s Live-Action Remake

Stepping Into a Classic Disney Role

For lifelong Disney fan Rachel Zegler, stepping into the role of Snow White in Disney’s live-action reimagining of the beloved 1937 film was a dream come true. The actress, known for her breakout performance in West Side Story, embraced the challenge of modernizing Disney’s first princess while staying true to the original character.

Rachel Zegler as Snow White sits on the forest floor in her iconic dress featuring a red and blue bodice and yellow skirt in the foreground. On the lower eft side of the image is a camera that captures the action and on the right a puppeteer clothed completely in gray, with a deer head puppet, is caught mid-action.

In an exclusive D23 interview, Zegler shared her excitement about playing Snow White. She reflected on the magical experience of filming and how much she enjoyed bringing the character to life.

A Magical Experience On Set

Filming Snow White was filled with unforgettable moments. Zegler described her first time stepping onto set in full costume as surreal. The detailed production design immersed her in the fairytale world, making every scene feel authentic.

At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Zegler took the stage with co-star Gal Gadot to unveil the film’s first official trailer. The event felt both nerve-wracking and thrilling. The audience also got an exclusive look at “Whistle While You Work,” one of the film’s most iconic musical sequences.

Bringing Snow White to Life

Zegler worked closely with director Marc Webb to develop Snow White’s personality and motivations. The famous wishing well scene went through multiple changes. The team aimed to capture Snow White’s hopeful nature and her belief in dreams.

The CGI Team inserts woodland creatures to enhance the magic of the woodland scene. Zegler found this detail delightful and fitting for the story’s tone.

A Birthday to Remember

One of Zegler’s most cherished moments was celebrating her 21st birthday on set. The crew and puppeteers surprised her during a break, even naming one of the deer puppets “Denzel”. The day felt even more special as it aligned with filming the forest transformation scene. In this scene, Snow White moves from fear to wonder, embracing the magic around her.

The Magic Arrives in 2025

With Snow White premiering on March 21, 2025, fans are eager to see Rachel Zegler’s take on the Disney princess. The film blends classic storytelling with modern filmmaking, creating a must-watch experience for Disney fans.
