In David Blaine Do Not Attempt, the Magician Exits His Comfort Zone

David Blaine Do Not Attempt is a thrilling six-part series from National Geographic and Imagine Documentaries that follows world-renowned magician and endurance artist David Blaine as he explores the world through the lens of magic. Filmed across 11 countries on five continents over three years, the series blends awe-inspiring illusions with cultural immersion and physical risk.

The series currently airs back-to-back episodes on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on National Geographic and is available to stream the next day on Disney+ and Hulu.

Feats of Strength, Culture, and Mystery

In each episode, Blaine seeks out extraordinary individuals whose physical and mental talents border on the supernatural. From 59 scorpions crawling over his body, to kissing one of the deadliest snakes in the world, to inserting a knife so deep into his nasal cavity it reaches the edge of his nervous systemโ€”Blaine puts himself through extreme challenges to uncover whatโ€™s possible.

These arenโ€™t illusionsโ€”theyโ€™re feats rooted in culture, belief, and biology. Blaine travels from India to Brazil, South Africa to the Arctic, learning ancient rituals, modern disciplines, and instinct-driven traditions.

An Artist Reflects

In a recent interview with D23, Blaine shared what inspired him: performers from history with talents so astonishing they felt like fiction. Over time, he realized many of them werenโ€™t trickstersโ€”they were trained, disciplined artists pushing their bodies and minds to the limit.

He also touched on how each region shaped its own magical traditions:

  • In India: faith-driven devotion among sadhus and masterminds.
  • In Southeast Asia: the transformation of fear into fascination.
  • In Brazil: passion and raw intensity.
  • In South Africa: talents he didnโ€™t know existed.
  • In Japan: quiet mastery and precision.
  • In the Arctic: resilience born from environmental extremes.

National Geographic and Disney: A Perfect Match

Blaine credits National Geographic for helping elevate this series to something truly unique. And with episodes available on both Disney+ and Hulu, the show continues a long legacy between Blaine and Disney, dating back to his Street Magic special on ABC three decades ago.

Magic That Challenges the Mind and Body

David Blaine Do Not Attempt is more than a magic showโ€”itโ€™s a global journey through danger, discipline, and discovery. Stream it now on Disney+ and Hulu or catch new episodes Sundays on National Geographic.
