Sally premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, winning the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Feature Film Prize. Since then, it has garnered critical acclaim at festivals worldwide, including SXSW, True/False, and the San Francisco International Film Festival. Critics have described it as “inspiring” and “long overdue.”
The Director’s Personal Connection
Cristina Costantini, known for Science Fair and Mucho Mucho Amor, brings a personal touch to the film. As a self-described “science nerd” growing up, Costantini idolized Ride, even painting a mural of her in elementary school. The film marks a full-circle moment for the director. She said she always wanted to tell the story of Sally’s professional brilliance—and her private joy.
