Stitch Crash Lands at Disneyland for 70th Celebration

You never know what to expect when Stitch shows up.  And if you’ve followed his antics like we have at SamsDisneyDiary, you probably held your breath the moment you heard he was heading to the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration.

Why? Because when Stitch’s Great Escape! Opened at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in 2004, he made a dramatic entrance. Guests walking down Main Street, U.S.A. on November 16 were greeted by a toilet-papered Cinderella Castle.  Complete with red graffiti that read “STITCH IS KING” and a doodle of Stitch wearing a crown. While the castle was cleaned up the next day, the memory of that chaotic stunt has never left us.

So now, 20 years later, with Disneyland’s 70th Celebration underway, the question wasn’t if Stitch would show up, but how much damage he’d do. Thankfully, Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle was spared. But don’t think Stitch didn’t leave his mark.

As revealed on Good Morning America, our favorite blue alien made a surprise crash-landing at Disneyland Park and wasted no time throwing himself into the celebration. He posed for photos with Mickey and Minnie in their new 70th anniversary outfits, splashed down on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and even squeezed in a souvenir run at the Emporium. Naturally, he picked up some items from the limited-edition Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration Collection.

Stitch Leaves His Mark

This time around, Stitch kept the destruction playful. Instead of wrapping Sleeping Beauty Castle in TP, he’s taken over a display window outside the Emporium on Main Street, U.S.A. It’s full of his signature mischief and only available for a limited time, so don’t miss it on your next visit.
