Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan are back! Disney just released the official trailer and poster for Freakier Friday, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2003 hit Freaky Friday. The film opens exclusively in theaters on August 8, 2025.

Directed by Nisha Ganatra and inspired by Mary Rodgers’ classic novel, Freakier Friday picks up years after the original mother-daughter body swap comedy. This time, Anna Coleman (Lohan) is now a mother herself, navigating blended family life with a daughter and soon-to-be stepdaughter. Tess (Curtis) is still by her side—until another supernatural switch throws their world into chaos again.
The trailer offers a glimpse into the familiar comedic chaos, heartfelt moments, and generational humor fans loved in the first film. This new chapter explores what happens when lightning strikes twice—and the results look just as freaky and fun.
Familiar Faces and New Surprises
In addition to the return of Curtis and Lohan, the star-studded cast includes Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Rosalind Chao, Chad Michael Murray, Vanessa Bayer, and Mark Harmon. Jamie Lee Curtis also serves as a producer on the film, alongside Kristin Burr and Andrew Gunn. Lindsay Lohan joins the production team as an executive producer.

Fans of the original will appreciate the nostalgic nods, while new viewers will enjoy a modern twist on the classic switcheroo story. With heartfelt family dynamics and fresh comedic energy, Freakier Friday looks like the summer movie event of 2025.
