Disney Quietly Updated the Monsters Inc land Concept Art—And We Noticed Everything

Thanks to our friends at Fantasyland News, we now have a fresh look at the evolving plans for Monsters Inc. Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. After Muppet Vision 3D closed, Disney installed construction walls around the area. Those walls, installed just this morning, now feature updated concept art that differs from what was shown at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.

Show Building Shift Creates New Possibilities

One of the most noticeable changes is the relocation of the coaster show building. Disney pushed it further back into the former parking lot, opening new space between it and nearby structures. That space could support a shaded extended queue or an outdoor dining area. It might also be used for landscaped green space. The added room brings a chance to improve guest comfort—something Toy Story Land still lacks.

Concept Art Details: Queue, Food Options, and Layout Changes

The artwork shows new elements that hint at possible experiences. A truck sits in the new space, near the main attraction—possibly a food truck or ice cream cart.  That would reference earlier art that featured giant monster ice cream cones. The cars once parked near the old Muppet Vision Theater are now gone. The small building that stood next to the former Muppet Vision theater has also been removed. And the Monsters Inc. archway that marked the courtyard entrance is no longer present.

Side-by-side concept art reveals a major shift: the Monsters Inc coaster show building has been pushed deeper into the former parking lot, creating new space near the courtyard.

Looking closer at the old Muppet Vision building, The marquee now appears to read ‘GLOB,’ though it’s unclear if that’s a placeholder, acronym, or part of the storyline. The updated fountain design looks more like a modified version of the Miss Piggy fountain, replacing the Monsters Inc. emblem seen earlier.

Before and after: The Miss Piggy fountain has been reimagined, the restroom lost its monster teeth, and the marquee now reads “GLOB”—replacing familiar Muppet details.

The restroom, Gonzo’s Royal Flush has changed, too. The roof no longer has cartoonish teeth and now resembles the current restroom design found elsewhere in the park.

HarryHousens seems to expand into the new space beside the coaster show building. However, it’s still unclear what’s planned for the former Pizza Rizzo and Christmas Shop building.

This updated view shows a cleaner street—no more parked cars, no entrance archway, and what might be a themed food or ice cream truck hinting at new guest offerings.

Disney’s Ongoing Design Refinement

Disney often revises concept art during development, and this likely won’t be the final version. Still, the direction appears clear: more shaded areas, better flow, and enhanced guest amenities. This Monsters Inc Land update suggests thoughtful planning that balances theming and functionality. We’ll continue monitoring construction and future updates.

Stay tuned for more details as this area transforms.
