Marvel Robots in the MCU: From Ultron to H.E.R.B.I.E. and Beyond

D23 Highlights the Most Memorable Marvel Robots

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has delivered countless iconic characters over the years—but some of its most fascinating members aren’t human at all. In a recent article, D23 rounded up key robots and artificial beings that have shaped the MCU. From early inventions to powerful synthezoids, these mechanical characters offer action, heart, and some surprising humor.

Among those spotlighted:

  • H.E.R.B.I.E. – The newest robotic recruit from The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025), ready to cook, clean, and protect.

  • DUM-E – Tony Stark’s trusty robotic arm and comic relief, first seen in Iron Man (2008).

  • J.A.R.V.I.S./Vision – From Stark’s A.I. assistant to full synthezoid, J.A.R.V.I.S. eventually becomes Vision, thanks to the Mind Stone.

Robots D23 Missed in the MCU

While D23’s list is extensive, several other robotic characters deserve recognition:

  • K.E.V.I.N. – The AI mastermind parody of Marvel Studios itself, featured in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022).

  • Arnim Zola (digital form) – Although originally human, Zola’s mind becomes digitized and appears in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014).

  • The Sentinels (Multiverse glimpse) – Briefly shown in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), these mutant-hunting machines are a deep Marvel cut.
  • The Watcher’s AI tech (What If…?) – Not exactly robots, but the multiverse’s guardians rely on advanced synthetic tools.

And if we’re looking ahead, more robotic allies and enemies are sure to arrive as the MCU explores Armor Wars, Vision Quest, and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Final Thoughts

Robots in the MCU are more than machines—they often represent emotional turning points, legacy, or threats that redefine what it means to be human. Whether you’re revisiting Iron Man, watching WandaVision, or counting down to Fantastic Four: First Steps, the metallic minds of Marvel continue to leave a lasting impact.
