Disney just released an extended official trailer for TRON: Ares, the third entry in the groundbreaking TRON franchise. The film is set to hit theaters on October 10, 2025. This time, it brings more than just striking visuals—it introduces a bold new story and a powerful soundtrack.
Nine Inch Nails Score Debuts with First New Song in Years
The trailer showcases the new Nine Inch Nails single, “As Alive as You Need Me to Be.” This marks the band’s first release in five years and sets the tone for the TRON: Ares (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), which drops September 19 through Interscope Records.
While Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have scored more than 20 films and TV projects, this soundtrack is the first created under the Nine Inch Nails name. Their past work includes Oscar-winning scores, but this project adds a new layer of identity for longtime fans.
A Digital Program Crosses into Reality
TRON: Ares introduces Ares, a sophisticated digital Program on a mission in the real world. He represents the first direct encounter between humans and artificial intelligence beings. The premise adds new urgency to the franchise while preserving its digital roots.
Jared Leto takes on the role of Ares, while Jeff Bridges returns as Kevin Flynn, connecting the story back to the original films. The cast also features Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, and Gillian Anderson.
Director Joachim Rønning brings the story to life, supported by producers Sean Bailey, Jeffrey Silver, Justin Springer, Jared Leto, Emma Ludbrook, and Steven Lisberger, the original TRON creator. Russell Allen joins the team as executive producer.
