Nearly 45 Years of Wishes
Nearly 45 years ago, Disneyland Resort became the site of the first official wish granted with Make-A-Wish. Since then, Disney has become the world’s largest wish-granter. The company has brought hope and happiness to more than 170,000 children and their families. This summer, the milestone was celebrated during Disneyland’s 70th anniversary.

Maddie’s Milestone Wish
For 13-year-old Madison (Maddie), who is undergoing treatment for leukemia, Disney was more than a place of magic—it was a source of inspiration. After reading “The Imagineering Story” and watching “Behind the Attraction“ on Disney+, Maddie wished to meet the Imagineers who bring Disney stories to life. She dreams of one day becoming an Imagineer herself.

As Disney’s 170,000th wish kid, Maddie’s experience was filled with Imagineering tours, behind-the-scenes panels, a walkthrough of Radiator Springs Racers, and even a visit to Walt’s apartment at Disneyland. Along the way, she met Imagineers, collected signatures in her book, and shared special moments that honored her as part of this historic milestone.
Aiden’s Wish: ESPN’s “My Wish” Series
Disney’s partnership with Make-A-Wish extends into sports through ESPN’s My Wish series, which returned this summer for its 18th season. Since 2006, My Wish has fulfilled 88 sports-themed wishes.

One highlight was 14-year-old Aiden, a Minnesota football fan battling leukemia, who wished to meet Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson. He brought along his 17-year-old brother Ryan, who had been his bone marrow donor, making the day unforgettable for both.
Dylan’s Wish at The 2025 ESPYS
At 16 years old, Dylan was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. His dream came true at the 2025 ESPYS in Los Angeles. Dylan toured ESPN Studios, appeared on NBA Today with a surprise message from Caitlin Clark, and attended the Sports Humanitarian Awards. He also met athletes like CJ McCollum, Titus O’Neil, and Pat McAfee before walking the ESPYS red carpet with his family.

Zoe’s Premiere Wish
For 11-year-old Zoe, the Disney Channel ZOMBIES movies offered joy during her recovery. Her wish was to meet star Milo Manheim, which came true at the ZOMBIES 4 premiere. Milo surprised Zoe with a video message ahead of the big day, then spent time with her at the event, sharing hugs, laughs, and encouragement.

Continuing the Tradition
From Disneyland’s very first official wish nearly 45 years ago to Maddie’s milestone 170,000th wish, Disney and Make-A-Wish continue to inspire generations. Whether through magical park visits, sports dreams, or Hollywood premieres, Disney remains committed to granting wishes that deliver joy and hope when it’s needed most.
