Joe Rohde’s Research Boots

Kicking off the exhibit was a pair of Joe Rohde’s boots and his sketchbook from his 2005 research trip to Nepal. These artifacts embodied the Imagineering philosophy of seeking real-world inspiration when creating immersive park environments like Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Pride Rock and The Lion King Maquettes

Disney animation took center stage with original maquettes of Timon and Pumbaa, along with a scale model of Pride Rock. Animators used these models as reference while bringing The Lion King (1994) to life, making them a rare glimpse into the creative process.

Little Red Returns

Fans of Disney’s Animal Kingdom celebrated the return of Little Red, the animatronic elephant once featured in Kilimanjaro Safaris. Retired from the attraction years ago, this figure made a nostalgic return, delighting longtime parkgoers.
