Enter the Grid with Tron: Ares
Disney is pulling fans deeper into the Grid this fall. At Destination D23, Yvette Nicole Brown announced a limited-time Tron: Ares overlay for TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom and TRON Lightcycle Power Run at Shanghai Disneyland. The update celebrates the October release of Tron: Ares, the latest film in Disney’s legendary sci-fi saga.
Beginning September 15 at Walt Disney World and September 16 in Shanghai, the rides will swap their iconic blue trails for dazzling red-and-orange hues. Guests will launch into a high-speed race pulsing with the industrial energy of Nine Inch Nails, transforming the ride into a symphony of light and sound.
Popcorn Buckets and Collectibles
As the film heads to theaters, Theaters are gearing up with limited-edition Tron: Ares collectibles, including a Lightcycle and an Arcade Cabinet Popcorn bucket. Our Friends at FantasylandNews.com are all over the details of these sleek designs, glowing with the aesthetic of the Grid, and promise to become instant collector’s items.
The Film: Tron: Ares
Tron: Ares arrives in theaters October 10, 2025, bringing fans back to the digital frontier. The story follows Ares, a powerful, self-aware program sent from the Grid into the human world. Jeff Bridges returns, while Jared Leto stars as Ares, joined by Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Cameron Monaghan. Directed by Joachim Rønning, the film promises to bend reality and technology in thrilling new ways.
Nine Inch Nails Rewrites the Grid
The overlay and the film share a pounding new soundscape by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails. Their distorted synths and haunting textures push the Tron universe into darker, more experimental territory. The first track, As Alive as You Need Me to Be, is already available, giving fans a taste of what awaits both on-screen and in the parks.
A Limited-Time Digital Adventure
From the fiery red glow of the ride overlay in Disney Parks to the must-have popcorn buckets in theaters, Tron: Ares is more than a film. It’s an immersive crossover of cinema and theme park thrills. Whether you’re racing on a Lightcycle or waiting for opening night, the Grid has never felt closer.
