Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Dropping 3D at Epcot — A Long Overdue Fix

Disney has officially confirmed that Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT will close briefly in November 2025 for a visual upgrade — returning with enhanced 2D digital projections and no more 3D glasses.

Official Statement from WaltDisneyWorld.com

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will experience a short downtime Nov. 10-13, 2025 and will return with enhanced digital visuals and clearer imagery projected in 2D. Remy’s fans will spot new props and lighting enhancements when they are added to the queue and attraction over the next few months.

This change comes after similar updates at Disneyland Paris, where the attraction was first introduced in 2014. Both parks are eliminating 3D visuals in favor of brighter, sharper, and easier-to-watch imagery — a move many guests are celebrating. In EPCOT, the space once used for 3D glasses distribution will be reimagined as part of a refreshed queue experience, improving guest flow and adding themed details tied to the story of Gusteau’s kitchen.

Enhancing Accessibility, Clarity, and Comfort

For years, guests have described the 3D elements as unnecessary and uncomfortable. While 3D might sound immersive on paper, in practice it often caused motion sickness, headaches, and blurred vision — especially on a ride that moves as much as Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.

Glasses fogged up, slipped during motion, and were difficult for those already wearing prescription lenses. The result? Many guests skipped the attraction entirely.

By removing 3D, Disney has simplified operations, improved accessibility, and made the experience smoother for everyone.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is set to open in the France Pavilion of Epcot’s World Showcase on October 1st, 2021.

A Welcome Change for Guests

This is great news for fans who can now enjoy the ride as intended — a family-friendly adventure through Gusteau’s kitchen, full of charm and energy, without the discomfort.

The update aligns both the Epcot and Disneyland Paris versions, confirming that the 3D approach simply didn’t enhance the storytelling. Instead, it distracted from it.

Thank you, Disney, for listening to guest feedback and modernizing this attraction. No more 3D glasses — just clearer visuals, cleaner storytelling, and a more enjoyable ride.

This is a change we welcome — and one that’s long overdue.
