You walk into the Sunset Showcase Theater expecting another stage show—but the walls already tell you something different. Eyes flicker from the wallpaper, reflections shimmer in hidden corners, and before you even take your seat, the villains are already watching. Welcome to Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After—a stunning new spectacle at Disney’s Hollywood Studios that combines record-breaking visuals, humor, and technology in equal measure.
The Magic Mirror Is the Heart of the Show
As revealed during the Destination D23 Villains Icons of Evil Presentation, the Magic Mirror is the heart of Villains: Unfairly Ever After. He invites guests into his realm of mirrors to answer one simple but wicked question: Who is the most misunderstood villain of all? The Mirror’s presence guides every element of the story—from the digital reflections to the show’s dynamic lighting and mirror-themed effects.
A Record Number of Villains Appear
It’s official: this show features 83 different Disney villains and sidekicks, a new record for a single Disney production. From Maleficent and Cruella to Captain Hook and Hades, nearly every corner of the Disney villain universe is represented—some live on stage, others hidden in projections and reflections throughout the performance.
74 Million LEDs Light the Realm
The stage design pushes technology to a new level, featuring over 74 million LED pixels across its various digital surfaces. That’s roughly half the total resolution of the Las Vegas Sphere! From the mirror portals to the ever-changing backdrop, the LEDs bring each villain’s domain to life, creating an immersive digital world that surrounds the audience.
The Portal Is as Tall as a Giraffe
The “rolling mirror” at the center of the stage—also known as the portal to the Mirror Realm—stands 174 inches tall, the same height as an adult giraffe. It’s the show’s signature centerpiece, rotating and glowing as villains pass between realms. Seeing it in person, with lights, smoke, and reflections cascading off its surface, is nothing short of breathtaking.
The Wallpaper Tells a Story
Before the curtain rises, take a moment to look around. The wallpaper in the theater changes—villains subtly appear and disappear as the show’s energy builds. By the time you leave, the designs shift once again. Each villain leaves their mark, a visual signature that ties into the show’s theme of reflections and reputation.
The Audience Decides the Ending
Every performance ends differently! The Magic Mirror asks the audience to vote by cheering for their favorite villain, determining who is crowned the most misunderstood. That means each show can have a different outcome, depending on who the crowd supports. It’s an interactive twist that makes rewatching a must.
Where to Find the Show
Villains: Unfairly Ever After takes place inside the Sunset Showcase Theater on Sunset Boulevard, near Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster. The production runs about 15 minutes, replacing Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, which closed in 2024. The show opened officially in May 2025 and has quickly become a fan-favorite addition to Hollywood Studios.
