A New Case in Zootopia Begins
Disney Animation is taking us back to Zootopia—and this time, the stakes, suspects, and species are bigger than ever. In Zootopia 2, Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde return as full‑fledged partners with a brand‑new case that shakes the entire city. Their latest mystery begins when Gary De’Snake, a venomous pit viper voiced by Oscar‑winner Ke Huy Quan, becomes the first snake seen in Zootopia in nearly a century. His sudden arrival turns the city upside down and immediately puts Judy and Nick on high alert.

As they dig deeper, clues point to a powerful secret tied to the Lynxley family, one of Zootopia’s most influential households. The trail leads our favorite cops to the Zootennial Gala, a lavish celebration marking 100 years of the city’s weather walls. What starts as a simple infiltration quickly turns into something far more dangerous—and the pair may even find themselves on the wrong side of the law.

Zootopia 2 features an impressive supporting cast, including Fortune Feimster, Andy Samberg, Idris Elba, Shakira, Patrick Warburton, and Quinta Brunson.
Expanding the World of Zootopia
The creative team behind the original film—director/writer Jared Bush, director Byron Howard, and producer Yvett Merino—shared insight into how this sequel expands the world we think we know.

Howard says returning to Zootopia was seamless thanks to years of shared ideas. One early sketch from Bush even featured a big “2” shaped like a snake—a hint of where things were headed. Both filmmakers have long wanted to introduce new species beyond mammals, and this sequel finally dives into that idea.
Bush explains that the first film explored predator‑prey relationships in a seemingly perfect city. This time, the team wanted a story that continues Judy and Nick’s relationship while also answering a major question: Why haven’t we seen reptiles in Zootopia before? That question sparked the entire plot.
Meet Gary De’Snake
Gary De’Snake is more than a headline‑grabbing new species. According to Howard, Ke Huy Quan brings unexpected warmth and innocence to a character who could easily appear frightening. That contrast makes Gary the emotional center of the film’s mystery. Judy and Nick connect with him almost instantly, and his story becomes the heart of the adventure.

What the Filmmakers Hope We Take Away
Howard says the team’s goal is pure joy. Zootopia 2 is fun, energetic, and uplifting—something audiences are craving. Beneath the humor and action, the film still carries an emotional core.

Bush adds that the story explores difference, understanding, and connection. Judy and Nick’s relationship remains at the center, and audiences may see pieces of their own friendships reflected in the journey.

When You Can See It
Zootopia 2 leaps into theaters on November 26, 2025, bringing new characters, new locations, and new mysteries to the city we love.
