During the media voyage, I spoke with Jeff Conover, Creative Director for Disney Cruise Line, who also served as the puppet designer for the production. Standing beside two of the five Hydras that appear in the show, Jeff shared insight into how these creatures were designed and why each one behaves differently on stage.
Turning Animation into Live Theater
One of the biggest creative challenges with Hercules is scale. The animated film relies on exaggerated movement and impossible physics. Bringing that energy into a live production requires creative problem-solving rather than direct replication.
