Disney Lands Five Oscar Nominations Ahead of the 2026 Awards

The Walt Disney Company proudly announces five Academy Award® nominations across The Walt Disney Studios (20th Century Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Walt Disney Animation Studios) and platforms (Disney+).

The Academy Awards will air live on Sunday, March 15, from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood.  The ceremony will be broadcast live on ABC and stream live on Hulu.  Conan O’Brien returns to host the Oscars for the second consecutive year. Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan will serve as executive producers for the third year in a row.

AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH (20TH CENTURY STUDIOS)

2 nominations | Now in theaters

  • Best Costume Design – Deborah L. Scott
  • Best Visual Effects – Joe Letteri, Richard Baneham, Eric Saindon, and Daniel Barrett

The latest chapter in the Avatar saga continues Disney’s dominance in visual effects while earning recognition for its detailed costume work.

ELIO (PIXAR ANIMATION STUDIOS)

1 nomination | In theaters, streaming on Disney+

  • Best Animated Feature Film – Madeline Sharafian, Domee Shi, Adrian Molina, and Mary Alice Drumm

Pixar’s Elio earned a Best Animated Feature nomination, reinforcing the studio’s long-standing presence in this category.

RETIREMENT PLAN (DISNEY+)

1 nomination | Streaming on Disney+ in the UK and Europe

  • Best Animated Short Film – John Kelly and Andrew Freedman

The animated short Retirement Plan earned recognition in a competitive category, highlighting Disney+’s continued investment in original short‑form storytelling.

ZOOTOPIA 2 (WALT DISNEY ANIMATION STUDIOS)

1 nomination | Now in theaters

  • Best Animated Feature Film – Jared Bush, Byron Howard, and Yvett Merino

Zootopia 2 returns Walt Disney Animation Studios to the Best Animated Feature race with a sequel that builds on the original film’s success.

The 96th Academy Awards air March 15, 2026. Disney’s five nominations set the stage for another strong night at the Oscars.
