Hey A.J.! Brings Big Imagination and Music to Disney Jr: Series Kicks Off January 13

A New Disney Jr. Series With Heart, Music, and Imagination

Disney Jr is kicking off the new year with Hey A.J.!, an animated family comedy designed to spark imagination and creativity among preschool audiences.

The series premieres with a seven-episode marathon on Disney Jr. on January 13, before arriving on Disney+ the following day. Additional episodes will roll out later in the year.

Hey, A.J.! Is About

Inspired by author and former Super Bowl champion Martellus Bennett, Hey A.J.! centers on an imaginative young girl named A.J. and her stuffed bunny sidekick, Theo.

Together, they turn everyday moments into imaginative adventures, using creativity and music to reframe the ordinary as something extraordinary. The stories are simple, relatable, and intentionally designed for preschoolers, while still offering enough warmth and humor for families watching together.

Why This Series Stands Out

Hey A.J.! feels like a thoughtful addition to the Disney Jr. lineup because it prioritizes imagination over noise. Rather than relying on fast pacing or high-stakes conflict, the series leans into creative play, music, and everyday moments kids already recognize.

That approach makes the show easy to watch together as a family. It invites kids to see possibility in ordinary situations while giving parents something that feels intentional and calm.

At its core, Hey A.J.! is about encouraging kids to see the world through imagination rather than instruction. The series leans into playful storytelling rather than high-stakes conflict, which feels especially well-suited to its youngest audience.

The show also benefits from strong creative leadership. Bennett serves as executive producer alongside Emmy Award winner Jeff “Swampy” Marsh (Phineas and Ferb) and GRAMMY-nominated songwriter and producer Michael Hodges (The Garfield Movie). That creative mix shows up in the show’s colorful 2D animation and music-forward storytelling.
