Disneyland Paris opened a major new chapter this weekend.
On March 29, 2026, the resort’s second gate officially became Disney Adventure World, replacing the Walt Disney Studios Park name. The new name is cool, but the bigger story is what guests will actually see. This park now has a clearer identity, a stronger layout, and much more room to grow.
World of Frozen is the headline addition. However, Disney says more than 90 percent of the park’s guest offerings have been redesigned since the park first opened in 2002. When the full transformation is complete, the park’s footprint will have roughly doubled.
Why This Opening Matters
For years, the original Walt Disney Studios Park often felt like the smaller half of the resort. Disney Adventure World feels more complete from the start.
Disneyland Park still delivers the classic castle-park experience. Meanwhile, the second gate now leans into immersive worlds built around Frozen, Marvel, Pixar, and, in the future, The Lion King. That shift makes Disneyland Paris feel more like a true multi-day destination, not a one-park trip with an extra stop next door.
World of Frozen Is the Centerpiece
The biggest new draw is World of Frozen, which brings the kingdom of Arendelle to Disneyland Paris on a life-size scale.
This new land is anchored by Frozen Ever After, a family boat ride that takes guests from the snowy forest to the Valley of the Trolls and into Elsa’s Ice Palace before ending with a dramatic finale over Arendelle Bay. Around it, guests can explore Arendelle Village, meet Anna and Elsa, shop inside Arendelle Boutique, and catch A Celebration in Arendelle, a daytime show staged on the water.
Disney has also highlighted a next-generation Olaf figure created by Walt Disney Imagineering for the new show, which adds another layer of new technology to the land.
For Disneyland Paris, this is a big deal. Frozen has had a huge following across Europe for years, and this is Disney’s most ambitious use of the franchise on the continent.
Adventure Bay and Adventure Way Reshape the Park
World of Frozen may get the most attention, but Adventure Bay and Adventure Way are what really change the park.
Adventure Bay is the new central lake, and it gives Disney Adventure World a stronger sense of scale. It also creates the stage for Disney Cascade of Lights, the new nighttime spectacular with fountains, projections, fireworks, and more than 350 drones.
Adventure Way acts as the park’s new promenade, connecting guests from the front of the park toward its immersive lands. Disney describes it as a garden-lined avenue, which helps the park feel more scenic and less like the old studio layout.
That area also adds new dining, themed gardens, and Raiponce Tangled Spin, a new family attraction inspired by Tangled.
This is also why the opening is bigger than one land. Disney Adventure World already includes Worlds of Pixar and Marvel Avengers Campus, and more is still on the way. A new area themed to The Lion King remains in development, and Disney has also announced the resort’s first attraction inspired by Up.
This Expansion Reaches Beyond the Gates
There is also a larger story behind this opening.
According to official Disney figures released this weekend, Disneyland Paris has welcomed more than 445 million visits since opening in 1992 and has invested 13 billion euros in France. The company says the resort now employs more than 20,000 Cast Members and supports 70,000 jobs across the wider economy.
Disney also says the 2 billion euro expansion tied to Disney Adventure World is expected to create more than 1,000 new direct jobs. That helps explain why French President Emmanuel Macron was on hand ahead of the opening.
The Resort Transformation Continues
The changes are not limited to Disney Adventure World. Disneyland Paris is also continuing updates across the wider resort, including the reimagining of Disney Village, ongoing guest experience improvements, and the phased refurbishment of Disney Sequoia Lodge. That gives this opening more weight than a standard land debut. It feels like part of a broader reset for the full resort.
Sam’s Disney Diary Take
Disney Adventure World feels like the moment Disneyland Paris finally made its second park feel essential. Yes, World of Frozen is the draw. However, the bigger win is the full package. Adventure Bay gives the park a focal point. Adventure Way gives it better flow. Frozen gives families a major anchor. The future Lion King area gives fans a reason to keep watching.
For Disneyland Paris fans, this weekend feels less like a single opening day and more like the start of the resort’s next version.
