Disney Earth Month 2026 Brings Step Into Wonder to Disney+

Disney is giving Earth Month a much bigger spotlight this year.

Instead of treating April like a small seasonal programming window, Disney and National Geographic are rolling out a month-long Step Into Wonder campaign that connects Disney+, National Geographic storytelling, conservation, social content, and even some in-person experiences. The result feels bigger than a single documentary drop. It feels like Disney is trying to turn Earth Month into a true company-wide moment.

At the center of it all are two titles Disney fans will want to keep on the radar. Secrets of the Bees is already streaming on Disney+ and Hulu, while Disneynature’s Orangutan arrives on April 22, 2026, for Earth Day. Those premieres are being used as the headline hooks for a much broader push that also includes a curated Earth Month collection on Disney+, themed digital content, and a renewed spotlight on the Disney Conservation Fund.

Why Step Into Wonder Matters

This is the kind of initiative that works well for Disney because it pulls together several parts of the company under one clear idea.

The Step Into Wonder campaign is built around helping families slow down, notice the natural world, and connect that everyday sense of discovery to Disney and National Geographic storytelling. A big part of that includes The Wonder List, which offers simple themed prompts tied to stars, clouds, trees, and rocks throughout April. Disney is also backing that up with social videos, streaming collections, and a 24/7 Earth Moods livestream experience on Nat Geo’s YouTube channels.

For Sam’s Disney Diary readers, that is what makes this more interesting than a standard corporate campaign. It is not just watch this new show. It is Disney trying to make Earth Month feel interactive, discoverable, and family-friendly across multiple platforms at once.

Secrets of the Bees Is Already Streaming

One of the biggest pieces of the month is Secrets of the Bees, which is now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.

The National Geographic series is hosted and narrated by Bertie Gregory and executive produced by James Cameron. It uses specialized filming technology to get inside the world of bees in a way most viewers have probably never seen before. The series reveals their architecture, intelligence, and behavior, while also spotlighting the important role bees play in the wider natural world.

That makes it a strong fit for Disney+ during Earth Month because it works on two levels. It delivers the visual spectacle people expect from National Geographic, but it also ties into the bigger message Disney is pushing this month. Wonder starts with paying attention to the world around you.

Orangutan Arrives on Earth Day

The other major premiere is Orangutan, the new Disneynature film debuting on Disney+ on April 22.

Narrated by Josh Gad, the film follows Indah, a young orangutan growing up in the rainforest canopy of Southeast Asia as she prepares to leave her family and begin life on her own. Disney is also tying the release directly to conservation support through the Disney Conservation Fund, with funding connected to efforts that protect Sumatran orangutans and forest habitat.

That connection gives Orangutan a little more weight than just being another Earth Day nature release. Disney is clearly framing it as both a story and a reminder of the real-world work still needed to protect the species and its habitat.

Disney Conservation Fund Turns 30

One of the more important parts of this year’s Earth Month push is the 30th anniversary of the Disney Conservation Fund.

Disney says the fund has provided more than $141 million to conservation efforts to date, helping support wildlife, habitats, and nature experiences for kids around the world. This year, Disney says it is supporting 25 organizations across 16 countries with a goal tied to protecting wildlife corridors globally. Disney is also using Earth Month to spotlight those efforts through its 30 Days of Stories initiative on the Disney Planet Possible platform.

For longtime Disney fans, this is a reminder that nature storytelling has always been part of the company’s identity, from the old True-Life Adventures all the way to today’s National Geographic and Disneynature projects. Earth Month 2026 feels designed to connect that legacy to what Disney is doing right now.

A Few Extra Details Disney+ Subscribers Should Notice

There are a couple of smaller details in this campaign that may still get attention.  Disney+ is promoting an Earth Month collection that includes National Geographic and Disneynature titles, and eligible subscribers can also redeem a six-month National Geographic digital subscription during April 2 through April 30. Disney is pairing that with additional social activations and themed editorial content across National Geographic platforms.

Sam’s Disney Diary Take

What stands out here is the scale.  Disney could have simply promoted Secrets of the Bees and Orangutan and called it Earth Month. Instead, it wrapped those releases into a much larger campaign that blends Disney+, National Geographic, conservation storytelling, and family-friendly discovery. That gives the whole effort a stronger identity.

For Disney fans, the easy entry point is the streaming lineup. Secrets of the Bees is already available, and Orangutan lands on Earth Day. But the bigger story may be that Disney is continuing to treat nature storytelling as one of its quiet strengths, especially when it can connect that storytelling to real conservation work.

If this campaign clicks, Step Into Wonder could end up being more than a one-year theme. It feels like the kind of Earth Month branding Disney could build on again.
