Greetings, Fellow Adventurers!
Hi! I’m Sam—a husband, father of three, and lifelong Disney fan. As a D23 member, DVC owner at BoardWalk, and Annual Passholder, Disney has always been part of my life story. My love for the parks, stories, and magic inspired me to create Sam’s Disney Diary, where I share my adventures, favorite memories, and tips from over three decades of Disney experiences.
That First Disney Spark
My Disney journey began in 1986 when I first visited Walt Disney World as a wide-eyed teen. I’ll never forget experiencing EPCOT Center in its early years—riding World of Motion, Horizons, The Living Seas, and Journey Into Imagination. That same trip also gave me the Magic Kingdom’s 15th Anniversary celebration. It was more than just a vacation—it lit a spark that shaped the rest of my life.
Growing up with The Wonderful World of Disney on TV, Walt’s storytelling always captured my imagination. When I finally stepped foot into the parks, it was like walking into a dream. That experience ignited my passion, and I’ve been chasing that magic ever since.
Walt Said it Best
Walt summarized the heart of that passion best!
“Why do we have to grow up? I know more adults who have children’s approach to life. They’re people who don’t give a hang what the Joneses do. You see them at Disneyland every time you go there. They are not afraid to be delighted with simple pleasures.”
To this day, walking into any Disney Park is stepping out of reality and into a place where I don’t have to grow up!
Capturing the Magic
Walt Disney World is more than a destination—it’s where my family and I make lasting memories. From preschooler giggles to teenage thrills, there’s always something magical waiting. I’ve been lucky enough to relive the awe of a first visit through the eyes of my kids, family, and friends.
That love for Disney evolved into Sam’s Disney Diary, a blog and video series that documents the joy, excitement, and nostalgia that Disney brings. Every photo, video, and story I share is part of that journey. Today, I co-host This Week at Walt Disney World Live with Sam and Greg alongside Greg from Fantasyland News, sharing weekly updates and stories with Disney fans around the world.
A few of My Favorite Disney Things
Favorite Memory:
Welcoming someone to their first Disney experience—that moment when they see Cinderella Castle for the first time—is priceless. I’ve relived that joy with all three of my kids and countless friends and family.
Favorite Park:
As much as I wanted to leave EPCOT Center in 1986, Epcot is my go-to park today!
Favorite Attraction:
My favorite attractions come and go, and with the rate of change in Disney Parks, I’m sure my favorite changes often. My favorite is the attraction I can live through the eyes of my children. So today it’s “It’s a Small World” for my youngest, “Rock-n-Roller Coaster” for my older two, “Expedition Everest” for my wife, and the simple pleasure of the Walt Disney Railroad for me.
Favorite Resort:
Epcot Resort Area. Walking to the International Gateway or catching a Friendship Boat to Hollywood Studios never ages.
Favorite Restaurant:
Dinner in the World Showcase, especially in Italy. Tutto Italia is a favorite, but you can’t go wrong with Via Napoli.
Favorite Characters:
It all started with Mickey, but my family’s convinced I’ve got a little Goofy in me!
