A Theatrical-Only Trailer Debut

This past weekend, the trailer premiered in theaters alongside The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Viewers were treated to a fiery new vision of Pandora, featuring volcanic landscapes and action-packed battles. Early reactions note a shift from the watery wonder of Avatar: The Way of Water to skies filled with ash and burning lands.

The Sully Family’s Next Chapter

Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) return with their children Lo’ak (Britain Dalton), Tuk (Trinity Bliss), and Kiri (Sigourney Weaver). Their human ally Spider (Jack Champion) joins them as they face threats born of fire and loss. Themes of grief, rage, and spiritual division now shape their future.

Meet the Ash Clan

The trailer introduces the Mangkwan Group, also known as the Ash Clan, who reside in volcanic regions. Led by Varang (Oona Chaplin), this fiery faction challenges the Sullys through strength and ideology. They question the long-held traditions of the Na’vi, breaking from the image of a unified Pandora.  James Cameron expands Pandora with the Wind Traders, a nomadic Na’vi group traveling in floating, jellyfish-like ships. Audiences will also meet new creatures, including airborne leviathans and fiery banshees. These additions deepen the rich ecosystem of Pandora and add more wonder to the world.

Visuals and Themes

The trailer features volcanic vistas, ash-covered skies, and emotionally powerful scenes. Critics describe Fire and Ash as a tonal evolution. The film moves beyond simple good-versus-evil storytelling to explore deep ideological rifts among the Na’vi.
