The Disney 100 Years of Wonder exhibit at Disneyland Resort is a must-see celebration of how Disney films have inspired attractions—and how those attractions, in turn, have influenced films. Imagineer Kim Irvine drew inspiration from her personal connection to Disney animation while curating this exhibit, which is now open at The Disney Gallery on Main Street, U.S.A. part of Disney100 Celebration at Disneyland Resort.
A Personal Connection to Disney Animation
Kim’s father, Harvey Toombs, was one of the original animators on Dumbo (1941). His artwork from the film, including iconic drawings of Dumbo’s first moments, is featured in the exhibit. This newly curated showcase is the largest ever at The Disney Gallery, extending into the entrance of The Disneyland Story presenting Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.
What You’ll See in the Disney 100 Exhibit
The exhibit features over 100 pieces of Disney history, including:
- Storyboards and Animation Sketches – Step into a recreated animator’s workspace with an authentic Walt Disney Archives animation desk.
- Imagineering Models – See how Disney’s iconic rides, like Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion, evolved from sketches to three-dimensional models.
- Historic Disney Footage – Watch Walt Disney himself introduce Disneyland in a Wonderful World of Disney episode from 1955.
- Multiplane Camera Display – Learn how Disney’s 1937 invention revolutionized animation by adding depth and dimension to classic films.
A Special Surprise: The Lost Old Hag from Snow White
While assembling the exhibit, Imagineer Dave Caranci made an unexpected discovery. For years, Imagineers searched for the Old Hag from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, an early Audio-Animatronics figure last seen in Disneyland in the late 1990s. Hidden away in storage, she was finally found—and now guests can see her once again inside the Disney 100 exhibit!
