During the 2023 Disney Annual Shareholders Meeting, CEO Bob Iger offered a closer look at one of the most anticipated new attractions coming to Epcot: Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana. This immersive walkthrough experience is part of the park’s ongoing transformation and is set within the World Nature neighborhood.
Journey of Water invites guests to explore the story of water through playful interaction, just as Moana did in the film. Using beautiful landscaping, interactive features, and educational moments, the attraction celebrates the natural water cycle in a way only Disney can.
Epcot’s Transformation Continues
As Iger explained, Journey of Water is just one part of Epcot’s multi-year reimagining. Major updates are coming to all four neighborhoods: World Celebration, World Discovery, World Showcase, and World Nature. Together, these updates are designed to bring new life and storytelling depth to the park while honoring Walt Disney’s original vision.

During the shareholder meeting, Iger reiterated Disney’s commitment to creating attractions that blend innovation, education, and emotional storytelling. Journey of Water does exactly that, and it aligns perfectly with Epcot’s legacy of exploration and connection.
Moana’s Story Expands Beyond the Parks
Alongside the attraction news, Iger confirmed that a live-action Moana film is in development at Walt Disney Studios. The film will feature Dwayne Johnson reprising his role as Maui, continuing the legacy of one of Disney’s most beloved modern stories. That news, paired with the opening of this new attraction, makes it an exciting time for Moana fans.

Whether you’re visiting Epcot for the first time or returning to see its transformation. Journey of Water—Inspired by Moana promises to be a highlight. Stay tuned as we follow its progress and explore more of what’s next for Epcot.
