A Celebration of Wishes
Walt Disney World recently hosted one of its most magical events: the Once Upon A Wish Party. This unforgettable celebration welcomed more than 50 wish kids and their families for an enchanting day filled with dreams come true.
A Milestone Moment
The event marked an incredible milestone—Disney’s 150,000th wish granted through its decades-long partnership with Make-A-Wish. Seventeen-year-old Mikayla, from Palm Beach Gardens, was honored to be the 150,000th wish recipient. Her wish to perform at Disney became royal as she sang beloved Disney classics, including “Beauty and the Beast,” alongside Belle and the Beast.
“Granting wishes is some of the most important work we do at Disney,” shared Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. “We’re humbled that so many wish kids choose Disney—it’s an honor, and we don’t take that responsibility lightly.”
Royal Treatment for Wish Kids
Throughout the Once Upon A Wish Party, wish kids were treated like royalty. They met over 30 Disney princesses and characters. Sipped tea in Wonderland, and danced the night away at a royal ball. Families also received surprise gifts from shopDisney, including Disney Princess dresses, tiaras, wands, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse ear headbands, and more. Disney Publishing added to the magic with a selection of free books.
Disney’s Legacy of Granting Wishes
For over 40 years, Disney has been the largest wish granter for Make-A-Wish. Helping bring joy to children battling critical illnesses. In fact, one out of every two wishes granted in the U.S. by Make-A-Wish involves a Disney experience.
“Disney is helping deliver joy when it’s needed most,” said Leslie Motter, Make-A-Wish America President and CEO. “Through stories and characters, Disney creates unforgettable moments like Once Upon A Wish Party, giving families space to create lasting happy memories.”
