Originally aired on May 20, 1989, the Disneyland “Blast to the Past” Television special featured Jon Bowzer” Bauman, Brain Bierne and Little Anthony. The Blast to the Past Celebration featured a parade at Disneyland in the spring of 1988 and 1989.
Disneyland performers wore their 1950s attire and presented a rousing salute to the era. The daily parade featured cars of the period adding to the ambiance, and a special show, the Main Street Hop, presented on Main Street and featuring five huge jukeboxes, hula hoops, Elvis, scooter riders, and confetti. Shows featured original entertainers from the 1950s and 1960s. As part of the event, Disneyland hosted the Super Hooper Duper event, smashing the world’s record for the most person hula-hooping at one time in one location—1,527 people gathered for the extravaganza in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle.
