The Festival of the Lion King has been a guest-favorite at Disney’s Animal Kingdom since it first debuted in 1998. More than just a stage show, this vibrant spectacle blends music, dance, acrobatics, and stunning visuals to celebrate the iconic songs and culture from Disney’s The Lion King.

Originally located in Camp Minnie-Mickey, the show found a new home in Harambe’s Africa in 2014, allowing the park to make room for Pandora – The World of Avatar. The move provided a dedicated indoor venue, ensuring every seat offers an incredible view of the breathtaking performances.

The Return of the Full Performance

After a pandemic-era modified version, the full Festival of the Lion King show made its grand return on July 4, 2022. Fans rejoiced as the Tumble Monkeys and aerial acrobatics returned, restoring the full magic of this Broadway-style Disney production.

This production is a musical celebration, not a direct retelling of the film. The four main storytellers—Kiume, Nakawa, Kibibi, and Zawadi—guide audiences through the experience, interacting with Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa as they bring the beloved songs to life.
