We’re just over a month away from the debut of EPCOT’s highly anticipated nighttime spectacular, Luminous: The Symphony of Us, premiering on Dec. 5. This all-new show from Disney Live Entertainment promises to dazzle with a breathtaking combination of fireworks, fountains, lights, and music. At its heart, “Luminous The Symphony of Us,” connects us through shared life experiences, reminding us that our unique melodies come together to form one great symphony—The Symphony of Us.
Like a beautifully composed piece of music, the show is divided into movements, each symbolizing common life experiences. Two original songs written for the spectacular—alongside new arrangements of beloved Disney classics—help tell this powerful story.
The show begins with voices from each World Showcase pavilion welcoming guests to this grand gathering. As the conductor taps their baton, the first movement begins with the original song “Heartbeat Symphony”, an emotional ballad that immediately sets the tone. This sweeping song is destined to become a new EPCOT favorite.
A Musical Journey Through Life
Each movement of Luminous highlights key life moments, starting with the tender love of parenthood. This segment features a touching multilingual rendition of “You’ll Be in My Heart”, followed by a transition to “Proud Corazón” as we celebrate family bonds and finding our voice. Friendship takes center stage with classics like “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” and “Friend Like Me,” bringing back the nostalgia of childhood friendships.
Romance shines with a sweeping arrangement of “So Close” from Enchanted. Followed by the quiet sadness of loss, represented by “When She Loved Me” and “Remember Me”. But hope returns as “I See the Light” lifts us into the finale. The show crescendos with the second original song, “Beating of Our Hearts,” bringing everyone together in an emotional and powerful conclusion.
A Score Crafted by Musical Masters
Music plays a critical role in Luminous: The Symphony of Us. Disney Live Entertainment turned to the talented Pinar Toprak for the show’s original score. Toprak’s work is familiar to EPCOT fans, as she composed the park’s current anthem. Joining her on the project are singers Sheléa and Katharine McPhee, whose voices add incredible depth and emotion to the show’s soundtrack.
