A Tribute to New Orleans Culture
Hailing from Louisiana, artist Malaika Favorite brings the vibrant spirit of New Orleans to life in the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure mural. This colorful piece decorates the queue of Disney’s upcoming attraction inspired by The Princess and the Frog, opening at Magic Kingdom and Disneyland Park in 2024.

Sharing Art Through Tiana’s Story
Malaika’s mural draws inspiration from the murals across New Orleans, aligning with Princess Tiana’s vision to make art accessible. It welcomes guests to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, celebrating Tiana’s journey creating Tiana’s Foods. The artwork reflects family, friends, food, music, and community.

Honoring Authentic Storytelling
Walt Disney Imagineering sought an artist who could authentically portray Princess Tiana’s experience as a young Black woman striving for her dreams in New Orleans. Their search led to Malaika Favorite, whose art explores African American cultural heritage. From childhood commissions to Baton Rouge Gallery exhibitions, Malaika’s talent has flourished.

A Visual Collage of Tiana’s Journey
The mural, spread across two exterior walls, presents a vibrant collage of meaningful imagery. It honors Tiana’s promise to never lose sight of what matters: family, love, and community. Each scene evokes warmth, joy, and togetherness, capturing Tiana’s heartfelt story.
