Journey Through the Galaxarium: Cosmic Rewind Queue Experience
As part of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary, EPCOT welcomed Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind on May 27, 2022. The attraction introduced the Wonders of Xandar Pavilion—the first-ever “other-world showcase” at EPCOT.
A Story Only Star-Lord Could Inspire
Peter Quill, better known as Star-Lord, visited EPCOT as a child. Years later, he suggested the park to the Xandarians as the perfect place to connect with Terrans (that’s us humans). This backstory laid the foundation for The Wonders of Xandar, located in EPCOT’s World Discovery neighborhood.
The Galaxarium Experience
Guests enter the queue through the Galaxarium, a stunning planetarium-style theater. The space features swirling stars, orbiting planets, and a narration by Worldmind, a Xandarian supercomputer. Much of Worldmind’s insight into Earth comes directly from Peter Quill, so expect some funny and offbeat references to our culture.
Questions from Worldmind Include:
- “Where is Johnny going, and is he being good?”
- “Why only the turkey leg?”
- “Milky Way? Odd name for a galaxy, don’t you think?”
This 30-minute loop features a beautiful blend of visuals, music, and tongue-in-cheek commentary that sets the tone for the journey ahead.
What Comes After the Galaxarium?
Once the loop ends, guests continue their journey through the Xandar Gallery, filled with exhibits about Xandarian history. From there, they enter the Phase Chamber, where the action really ramps up.
