Journey of Water Opens at Epcot on Disney’s 100th Anniversary

As The Walt Disney Company celebrates its 100th anniversary, Walt Disney World Resort marks the milestone with the debut of Journey of Water, Epcot Inspired by Moana.

A New Adventure at Journey of Water Epcot

Guests can now explore a beautifully landscaped walking trail where water comes alive in magical and playful ways, just like Moana’s interactions with the ocean. From high-fives to musical “rain harps,” the attraction delivers surprises around every corner. Located in Epcot’s World Nature neighborhood, this lush, tropical path immerses visitors in the world of the hit Disney Animation Studios film Moana.

This all-new walkthrough attraction continues the transformation of Epcot, showcasing Disney’s ongoing commitment to immersive storytelling. As part of a wave of new experiences at the park, Journey of Water follows other major additions like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.

Meet Moana and Discover More

Adjacent to the trail, fans can also meet Moana in a new dedicated area. It’s the perfect spot for photos, hugs, and conversations about water conservation. Te Fiti stands tall in the attraction, guiding the water’s journey through the cycle of life. Guests will also spot familiar characters carved into the rocks, including Pua, Heihei, and Moana.

Families of all ages can join the fun, discovering the beauty of water and the importance of protecting it. This interactive experience blends nature, music, and Disney magic to create unforgettable memories.

A Celebration 100 Years in the Making

Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana officially opened on October 16, 2023—the same day The Walt Disney Company celebrated its 100th anniversary. As the centerpiece of the Disney100 celebration at Walt Disney World, Epcot now features special entertainment, new Global Marketplaces, and appearances by Mickey and Minnie in platinum attire at the Imagination! pavilion. Even Spaceship Earth shines each night with a new lighting display and the Disney100 anthem.

This opening is just one part of a larger vision for Epcot’s future. Guests can also look forward to “Walt the Dreamer”—a new statue—and the lush, green World Celebration gardens coming soon.
