NFL fans and Disney lovers, get ready! A brand-new episode of the Emmy-nominated ESPN+ Original series Peyton’s Places is now streaming—and this time, Peyton Manning takes us on a magical trip to Walt Disney World Resort. In this unforgettable installment, Peyton dives into the origins of the iconic “What’s Next?” Super Bowl commercials, joined by none other than the quarterback who started it all: Phil Simms.

A Super Bowl Tradition with Disney Magic
Back in 1987, after winning Super Bowl XXI, Phil Simms famously declared, “I’m going to Disney World!” This spontaneous phrase quickly became a cherished tradition, as Super Bowl MVPs have continued to celebrate their victories with a magical Disney parade ever since.
But did you know the tradition almost didn’t happen? In the new episode titled “When You Wish Upon A Star,” Phil reveals that he initially hesitated to participate. His agent had to call him repeatedly before he finally agreed to say the now-famous line just two days before the game.

How It All Began
The inspiration for the “What’s Next?” campaign came from a completely different type of triumph. In December 1986, pilots Dick Rutan and Jeana Yeager completed the first nonstop, unrefueled flight around the globe. During a celebratory lunch with then-Disney CEO Michael Eisner, they were asked, “What are you going to do next?” Their response: “We’re going to Disneyland!” And a timeless tradition was born.

A Day at Magic Kingdom with Peyton & Phil
In the latest episode, Peyton and Phil tour Magic Kingdom Park, reliving the 1987 celebration and stopping by fan-favorite attractions like TRON Lightcycle / Run and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. They even recreate Phil’s famous flea-flicker play—with help from Goofy!
Viewers also get a heartwarming look at the enduring relationship between the NFL and Disney, and how cast members come together to create an unforgettable experience for Super Bowl champions.
