The most magical place on Earth just got even more magical with the arrival of over 300 new Disney animal babies! From the aquatic world of The Seas with Nemo & Friends at Epcot to the savannas of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, these adorable additions include cuttlefish, an eagle ray pup, an aardvark, a red river hog piglet, and more than 150 birds.
These births play an essential role in helping maintain healthy animal populations and supporting conservation efforts. It’s been an especially exciting time at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary by expanding its commitment to the magic of nature—welcoming both new attractions and plenty of baby animals!
Helping Endangered Animals Thrive
Thanks to the Association of Zoos and Aquariums Species Survival Plan, Disney’s team of animal care experts continues to help endangered animals thrive. From birth to their public debuts, these talented cast members work tirelessly to care for Disney’s animals and connect guests to the natural world.
Here are a few of this summer’s highlights—you can see them in person during your next visit to Walt Disney World!
Zebra Foals Join Kilimanjaro Safaris
Disney’s Animal Kingdom welcomed two Hartmann’s mountain zebra foals this summer on Kilimanjaro Safaris. Named Cricket and Dot, the foals were born just six days apart. You can now be spotted playing across the savanna.
Each zebra has a unique set of stripes, but if you’re having trouble telling them apart, here’s a tip: Cricket loves splashing in puddles, while Dot enjoys racing across the grass with joyful “zoomies.”
Cotton-top Tamarin Twins on Discovery Island
A pair of cotton-top tamarin twins were born in June on Discovery Island. The pair have captured the hearts of park guests. Though still small enough to fit in the palm of a hand, these playful twins are now exploring their treetop habitat on their own. They love chasing each other through the branches. With their impressive acrobatic skills!
Yellow-backed Duiker Makes Her Debut
Pearl, a yellow-backed duiker mom, spent the summer preparing her daughter Penny for an exciting milestone. After bonding backstage for a few months, baby Penny made her debut at Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail this season. Since yellow-backed duikers are shy and elusive, spotting Penny and Pearl in their habitat might take a bit of patience—so keep your eyes peeled!
Bonus: Cinderella Pony at Tri-Circle-D Ranch
Although not at Animal Kingdom, we can’t forget Pixie, the Shetland pony foal born in July at Tri-Circle-D Ranch. Pixie is the third Shetland pony born at the ranch this year, joining Sprout and Finn. However, Pixie holds a special title as the first Cinderella pony and has already started her training to join the Cinderella carriage team. Along with her mom Lady and sister Lilly.
Celebrating Nature Every Day
From caring for more than 5,000 animals at Walt Disney World to protecting sea turtles. Along with preserving Florida’s coral reefs, Disney’s Animal Science and Environment team continues to bring people and nature together.
