Regis Philbin became a fixture on Walt Disney World’s Main Street USA during the annual Christmas Day Parade in the 1980s. Starting with the second annual parade in 1984, Regis was the man on the street reporting live from Main Street USA. In addition to behind the man on the street, he produced many segments highlighting the latest Walt Disney World attractions. In 1985, Regis showed us the Living Seas. In 1986, he took us on “EarForce One”, the Mickey-shaped hot air balloon. He also gave us a look at Walt Disney World’s 15th Anniversary celebration, including an interview with the lucky family that won a new car and a look at Epcot’s skyleidoscope. In 1987, Regis gives us a behind-the-scenes progress report on construction at Walt Disney World, including Pleasure Island, Typhoon Lagoon, the Grand Floridian, the latest Epcot World Showcase Pavilion, Norway, and a new theme park, Disney MGM Studios. Then Regis is our ringmaster for the Epcot Daredevil Circus Spectacular. In 1988, we get an update on the construction of the Disney MGM Studios Theme Park. In 1989, Regis interviews Kermit the Frog and gets the latest on the Muppet’s involvement at the Disney MGM Studios.
