The 1990 Walt Disney World Happy Easter Day Parade was broadcast by ABC on Easter Sunday, April 15th.  The parade was hosted by Joan Lunden, Alan Thicke, and Regis Philbin with special guests Buster Poindexter and Howie Mandel.  It wouldn’t be 1990 without an appearance by the Duck Tales Gang and The Rescue Rangers.  The festivities begin with the 500-piece Walt Disney World Honor Band at the Magic Kingdom.  Rodger Rabbit gets a premium spot in the opening parade and musical sequence; after all, he has a new short, Roller Coaster Rabbit.  The new short will premiere along with the new Dick Tracy File in theaters, summer 1990.  Mickey and Minnie take in the beauty of Walt Disney World in the springtime with the musical number, “Mickey, She’s Got a Crush on You”; remember this is 4 years before the first Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival.  Over at Disney Hollywood Studios, where movie magic happens every day, Alan Thicke is set to perform all around the theme park as “That Dancin’ Guy”.  The Magic Drum and Bugle Corps take a turn down Main Street USA.

The Mouseketeers perform a rock and roll number on Main Street as they prepare for their 1990 tour.  After Mary Poppins and crew parade down Main Street, we head to Disneyland where Buster Poindexter and his tour guide are getting ready for the amazing “Party Gras” parade celebrating Disneyland’s 35th Anniversary; but first, let’s take a ride on Disneyland’s Splash Mountain, which had opened the year

before (1989).  The gang from Little Mermaid won the Oscar for Best Song last year, a perfect reason to celebrate with ‘Under the Sea”.   Howie Mandel takes us on a tour of the Disney MGM Studios and a ride on the Backlot Tour.  Mickey’s Star Land is now open at the Magic Kingdom, featuring the new show Mickey’s TV World.  With all-new music, plenty of laughs, and an opportunity to meet Mickey himself, his guests will include The Rescue Rangers, Chip, Dale and Gadget, The Gummy Bears, and the gang from Duck Tales.   Speaking of Duck Tales, how about a theme song performance right down Main Street, woohoo.  Don’t worry, Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers are not far behind.   The Mouseketeers are hanging out over at Typhoon Lagoon, and we get there just in time for a musical number.   We wrap up with a tribute to Give Kids the World and the parade finally with none other than Mickey Mouse.
