After moving the 1999 Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade to an evening event, the Christmas Day event took a year off in 2000.  There was no Walt Disney World celebration on Christmas Day.  Instead of the fan-favorite annual event, the Wonderful World of Disney presented “Walt Disney World, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas,” which aired on Christmas Eve.    The narrator sets the stage….

“Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse… Well, maybe one special mouse was stirring, hey Mickey.  All through the kingdom, even though it was night, we were all going ready to watch Santa’s flight.  We launched a satellite high in the sky to help us watch as Santa did fly.  So, we filled the castle with computers and more, and we planned to do something never done before.”

Cinderella Castle is the base of operation with continuous coverage of Santa’s flight.  Joining the celebration and Rocking Around the Christmas Tree at Disney MGM Studios is Jessica Simpson, along with 98 Degrees.  SHeDAISY and Billy Gilman are at the Magic Kingdom.  Over at the Animal Kingdom, it’s Monica with ‘NSYNC joining the Christmas Eve Celebration at Epcot.  Tracing Santa on the west coast at Disneyland is Frankie Muniz, who takes us on an early look at Disney California Adventure, which is opening soon.  Helping Mickey to track Santa from the Cinderella Castle Headquarters is the crew from Who’s Line is it Anyway?: Wayne Brady, Colin Mochrie and Ryan Stiles.  Disney characters or special guests like Snow White arrive for the Christmas Eve festivities via Main Street, USA.  Those “arrival” vehicles sure look like Very Merry Christmas Parade Floats…  and yes, it is the Very Merry Christmas Parade at the Magic Kingdom.
