Disney’s 1957 Tricks of Animation Revealed

In this episode of Walt Disney Disneyland which originally aired on February 13, 1957, Walt takes us on a behind-the-scenes look at how animation is created.   He discusses and demonstrates how his artists study real life to recreate and embellish it on the screen.  Walt shows everything from footage of a portly comedic dancer to learn not only the movement of the body but the clothing as well, to ultra-slow-motion footage of bubbling mud and drops of water to create believable effects animation.  He also gives us a demonstration of the multiplane camera. The final segment explains how Disney animators use actors and dancers to help them interpret movement and breathe life into their characters.   This video does NOT include some movie clips in the original telecast.
