The 1998 Walt Disney World Easter Parade aired on ABC on Easter Sunday, April 12, 1998. It was a star-studded celebration and an exclusive first look at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Ann Jillian and Regis Philbin hosted the parade, which blended musical performances, behind-the-scenes moments, and Disney magic.

Regis Philbin took viewers inside Disney’s Animal Kingdom just 10 days before its grand opening. In a special segment, Disney CEO Michael Eisner introduced the park and highlighted its attractions. Eisner described how Imagineers had created a time rover for dinosaurs, planned safari expeditions, and designed historic British trains and riverboats to transport guests across African and Asian landscapes—all within Walt Disney World.

The parade also took audiences behind the scenes at Disney-MGM Studios to see the making of Mulan. With the film set to premiere later in 1998, this preview gave fans a glimpse into the animation process and Disney’s latest theatrical masterpiece.

A special segment featured the Glenbrook South High School Marching Band from Glenview, Illinois, performing down Main Street, U.S.A. The parade continued with a Country Bear Jamboree-themed float, celebrating the classic Frontierland attraction. The event concluded with an “In Your Easter Bonnet” sing-along, bringing the festivities to a joyful close.
