The 1999 Walt Disney World Easter Day Parade was broadcast by ABC on Easter Sunday, April 4th. It was the 15th annual, and unfortunately last, of the “Live” Walt Disney World Happy Easter Parades to air on ABC on Easter morning or any other network for that matter. The final installment of the parade was hosted by Caroline Rhea along with D.L. Hughley. While the special continues to include parade segments and Walt Disney World coming attractions, the 1999 parade was dominated by musical performances from Disney recording artists including 98-Degrees from Epcot, Britney Spears from MGM Studios, and Collin Raye from Animal Kingdom. While checking in with the college crowd over at Epcot, 98-Degrees gives us a look at Walt Disney World’s latest thrill ride, Test Track.
Britney Spears takes us around MGM Studios highlighting the new Fantasmic, a live show full of lasers, animations, and special effects, and the Rock and Roller Coaster opening “this summer” (1999); no mention of Aerosmith just yet. D.L. Hughley takes us behind the construction walls for a look at the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, opening summer 1999. The hosts highlight the return of a classic; the Main Street Electrical Parade is making its way from Disneyland back to Walt Disney World for a special appearance starting in 1999. The parade ends with a world-record performance of “The Bunny Hop”.
